1.- facilitate the understanding of a complex situation.
2.- To identify the most sensible elements. The systems are very sensible to a reduced number of causes. The simulation models allow to identify the elements of the system which are more sensible. If our intention is to modify the behavior of the system, the identification of these elements will allow us to modify its structure and therefore its behavior, in a very efficient way.
3.- To analyze manifold alternative. The models allow comparison of the effect of the anticipated actions of a very clear form, and also they allow us to compare the results that will have different actions, in its different horizons or terms.
4.- To propose with clarity the actions to take. All proposal of solution of a conflicting or complex situation presents the necessity to translate the technical concepts and calculations to the final conclusions. The models allow to expose with clarity the different analyzed proposals, and the reasons that allow to suggest one in relation to the others.
